I know this is shocking that I haven't seen this movie because I am a Washington DC freak and I have been to almost all the Smithsonian museums but that is the exact reason why I didn't want to see this movie. I love the museums so much and the characters that are in the museums that I didn't want that all to be ruined by this movie.
Granted the movie was not as good as the first because in my opinion nothing could recapture that fun and excitement the first had but this movie was not horrible. Amy Adams was a great addition to the cast and I hope if they decide to make another movie they find a way to bring her back.
Part of the brilliance of the first movie is the older night guards so not being able to have them around is part of the reason this movie wasn't great. But bringing it to DC was a great choice because it gave so many more characters to have fun with which it did.
The special effects were great in this movie and having the octopus go into the reflecting pool was one of my personal favorite. I didn't necessarily like having so many bad guys-- it didn't make sense. I am a person who likes to have one major bad guy to hate and needing to have a lot of heros to gang up on that one person.
Ben Stiller is in his element in these comedy roles which I love and wish he did more of. He can definitely carry a movie on his own but I like him in these kids movies more than the adult films like Meet the Parents and the sequels. He is like Adam Sandler in my opinion but better! (for instance with There is Something About Mary-- BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!)
Let me know what you think-- like it? love it? hate it?
