Review: The Kids Are All Right

Review:
4.5 out of 5 stars

Honestly an amazing movie for the sarcastic person-- literally this was OOZING with sarcasm in every line and every character. It is a definite Oscar contender this year-- especially for Annette Benning who is amazing as always. She is the scorned lover an does an amazing job. She also shows was true love is and that love can overcome even the most horrible things.

But what I love MOST about this film is how it made a lesbian relationship seem so normal. They did not focus on the fact they were lesbian but focused on them as just another married couple. I know there are many people who would say this idealized gay marriage but honestly they are two women who happen to be in love with each other. The movie also showed how they have the exact same problems as regular couples with infidelity and children rebellion.

I love the two children-- they were amazing. Mia W. (the girl) and Josh H. (the boy)--- I am unsure of their last names were amazing and showed how children would react to finding their biological parents and one of their parents having an affair. I absolutely loved how they reacted and you got to see a family go through the pain and heart ache but come out stronger than before. The boy was just so sarcastic and was definitely the rebelling teenager which was hysterical.

My biggest issue with this movie is that there is not one big scene instead it is a bunch of little ones. I love when movies have this big scene where everything comes together -- usually a big fight scene. But in this case there was not one big moment when everything comes together-- instead there is little resolution-- even though it makes sense because in a real family everything is not perfect at the end of two hours- haha.

I definitely recommend this because it will likely be a major Oscar contender this year in Best Picture, Best Actress (with two possible nominees) and Best Screenplay along with other possible ones. But those three are its best possible shot at a nomination.

I definitely want to hear the reaction people have to this movie-- so rent it and let me know what you think!
