4 out of 5 stars
One of my favorite movies of the year (and yes I realize it has a lot of swearing and a TON of violence). What I loved so much about this movie is that it didn't shy away from the swearing and violence but embraced it. I am also a sucker for a comic-book movie and this is one of the best (up there with V for Vendetta one of my favorite of all time).
This movie does involve a girl swearing and doing unspeakable violence but that was fine with me because as part of the character she grew up with no childhood and was groomed for this. That does not make it right but makes it a reality that is sadly true for most today. Most children do not get a childhood but instead have a ton of things they are forced to do and things that take up most of their time.
This movie is about a boy who wants to be a superhero and creates a costume because he thinks that will make him one. When it doesn't he begins to fight crime, rather badly but people notice and some embrace it while others try to destroy it. He crosses paths with a girl and her father who are fighting the mob and trying to bring them down.
The ending is poetic, sad and uplifting all in one. I highly recommend this movie BUT if you have a problem with too much violence or too much swearing then this is NOT for you! But it is definitely a fun watch and one that I believe you will enjoy in the end.
Let me know what you think-- love it? hate it?
