Review: Super Size Me

For about two years now I have been on a health kick which has basically turned into a life changing event. I no longer drink soda and have gone organic. But there was one last aspect I haven't been able to kick and that is my love of fast food restaurants. As a result I have been wanting to get this movie but have been scared to.

Review:

4 out of 5 stars

This is a documentary made in 2004 by Morgan Spurlock and his girlfriend. This man who was in great physical shape decided to eat ONLY McDonald's food for 30 days to see how it affects his body. He ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner and if the people who worked there asked if he wanted it super sized he would say yes. In the thirty days he also had to eat every item on the menu at least once during that month.

In my personal opinion this was a very well made documentary because it was not too long and got straight to the point --- documenting his entire month and the transformation of his body. He had a team of doctors to monitor his health and make sure nothing horrible happens.

The transformation was absolutely horrible of what McDonald's food does to your body-- honestly I have not eaten ANY fast food since then and have tried to limit my eating out. It sickens me to see how he gained 25 pounds over the course of the month and his liver function failed along with countless other medical conditions.

The movie was not preachy in trying to convince you not to eat McDonald's--- instead he just gave the facts and let you make your own decisions. I highly recommend watching this movie because everyone needs to watch it. If you are scared you will never eat McDonald's again-- WHAT IS SO WRONG ABOUT THAT?!?!?! You should want to be rid of that from your life.

You will have more energy and feel better about yourself. Cooking is a lost art in our society and I think watching this movie will make you want to make more of your own food. Will I eat McDonald's again-- definitely without a doubt in my mind! But will I ever go back to 3-4 times a week eating it-- NO WAY!!!

Rent this movie!! You will not regret it! Let me know what you think of this-- love it, hate it, refuse to see it?
