Review: Salt

On Saturday I went to the movies to see Salt which I was very excited about-- ask anyone. I love action thrillers and had been dying to see one for quite a long time. Then I saw SALT was coming out and was like-- thriller with Angelina Jolie, I AM THERE!!! She was great in Tomb Raider and Wanted but she was amazing as a spy in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. So there were high expectations.

SALT

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

From my rating you can probably see the movie did not wow me. I enjoyed it and it did the purpose of thrilling me but it was no Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Instead in my opinion it was Jason Bourne Wannabe!! And that would have been perfectly ok with me if it had been a good wannabe-- instead it tried too hard and fell on its face.

In the end it was a very confusing movie that had way too many twists-- I lost count at 7 different twists. Granted the last twist ended up being the twist I had predicted from the beginning so I was pretty happy.

I think the writing is probably where the entire movie fell apart-- usually if a movie tries too hard and has too many twists it is because the writer had too many ideas floating in their head. Angelina Jolie was good but not great. My personal favorite actor was the guy who played the FBI agent trying to catch her Chiewtel Ejiofor. He was amazing and very effective at seeing through all of the twists and still using his head. I did NOT like Liev Schreiber, I thought he was terrible and normally he is such a good actor.

As you can see I tried something different before I tell you what the movie is about-- I wanted to give you my perspective of the characters first. The movie is about a CIA agent-- Salt played by Jolie-- who is supposedly framed as a Russian Spy. The rest of the movie is different government agencies trying to catch her before she supposedly kills the Russian President and other people. She is trying to get away and clear her name.

I do not want to give you more but I desperately want to-- so if you want to know more about the movie or never plan on seeing it contact me through my email (esshipman@gmail.com) or on facebook and I would be more than happy to contact you with more information.

I would definitely recommend renting this instead of wasting your money for the theaters. But instead of renting this go for the Bourne Series-- AMAZING MOVIES and Matt Damon is much more convincing!!

As always let me know what you think! Love it? Hate it? Whatever-- no judging of your tastes here!!

  1. LOVE the Bourne series but have no interest in seeing Salt. My sister liked it, but I'm just not a big Angelina fan. On the day we were scheduled to see it, I convinced her to see Charlie St. Cloud instead! haha
