Review: Halloween II

*Side note, I have seen the previous movie. This is of the new reboot of the series by Rob Zombie.

Rating 3 out of 5

I really liked the first one because I found it so horribly scary. I could not go down into the basement for a week!! It was amazing!! But this was I did not like, one the violence was done just for violence. There was no motivation behind it which is essential for me sometimes. If they are dead, there is no point in continuing to destroy the body but Michael kept going.

The other thing that bugged me about this is the writer and director tried to show us the motivation behind why Michael was doing all this and I hated it. I started to actually feel sorry for him and then I felt weird feeling sorry for a psychopath.

But I did like the idea behind Laurie (Michael's sister he can't seem to kill). Having her basically go crazy was an interesting twist. I also liked her not knowing she was Michael's sister because we got to see her become desperate to want to survive. Everyone has that survival instinct in them, you just have to be in that right situation to have it come out.

I thought the movie overall was a good horror movie. The special effects are amazing and the blood and guts looked very realistic-- I had to look away twice because I was disgusted!! GREAT JOB!!!

But I am not a Halloween fan-- I am a Jason!! What can I say-- give me Crystal Lake any day!!

And for all of you that have seen the original Halloween-- the new ones are different. The original were made back in horror movies heyday when people were able to be scared much easier. Today everything needs to be big but I loved the original horror movies because they are much simpler. I prefer the Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween to the new ones (even though they are fun to watch).

Let me know what you think.
