Review: Inception

I have been dying to see this movie but was on vacation when it first came out in July. I am a huge Christopher Nolan (especially after the Batman movies) and I love Leonardo DiCaprio (amazing actor).

Review:

4.5 out of 5 stars

As you can tell I absolutely loved this movie, given its very high rating. The only reason it did not get 5 out of 5 stars is it was hard to follow with the flashbacks and dream sequences. I personally love a movie that makes me think but others could find it hard to follow and get bored with it.

If you do not like thinking while watching a movie this is definitely not the movie for you. The movie is about a man who cannot go home because he is accused of killing his wife. His job is to get into people's heads (literally) and find out their deepest darkest secrets. Well a man gives him a job with the hope of being able to return home. He has to go into a man's mind and create an idea that the man will think is his own.

The movie is well done and the special effects are absolutely amazing-- at certain times I swear my mouth had to be open wide because I was in awe of what I was seeing. Leonardo DiCaprio was simply amazing as the leader of the group--- compared to his last movie, Shutter Island, he was spectacular!! But the band he is leading is absolutely amazing-- especially Ellen Page (who I am not a fan of normally-- I hated Juno) and Jospeh Gordon- Levitt (who I am slowly becoming a fan of after 500 Days of Summer).

The movie does a fairly good job trying to dumb down the scientific ideas to the point the average person can understand them without making you feel stupid. The idea of inception is ingenious and I was very surprised it was not thought of before. This was a very unique movie and rare because it is based on an original idea which Hollywood does not seem to do a lot of.

My favorite part of the movie was the ending-- brilliant!! Without giving it away-- it lets the watcher become active in the movie which I love. Everyone says the beginning fifteen movies make the movie but for me the last 5 minutes are what I will remember and I will either love a movie or hate it because of the ending. I hated War of the Worlds because of the ending. The rest of the movie was fun and I loved but the ending is what I remember most and honestly it is one of my least favorite movies EVER because of it!!

This ending however was brilliant and made me think and the way I interpret it could be different than how every other person interpreted and saw it.

I highly recommend seeing this in theaters!! Do not wait to rent it because it pays to see it on the big screen for those special effects.

Let me know what you think-- did you see it and love it, or hate it?
