Review: Dream Boy

Review:
3 out of 5 stars

A very sweet love story that happens to show a budding relationship between two high school boys. They do not understand what is happening or what they are feeling. It is so real at times that you can hopefully forgive the cheesy music that plays overtop of the entire movie. Their budding friendship starts out as just friends until one of them makes a move to go further.

There are a lot of things I cannot forgive like using the abusive father plot line again but then again I cannot fault the movie because it was based on a book. The ending is entirely cheesy but in some weird way it works-- it is entirely overdone (I will not spoil it but I am curious what you think if you see this).

The reason this got such a high school is because of the two teenage actors (Stephen Bender and Maximillian Roeg) they do an absolutely amazing job portraying teenagers who do not know what is happening. Maximillian Roeg is especially mesmerizing to watch.

This is a movie I got because of blockbuster's great program that recommends movies based on others you rented --- that is the only reason I got it and honestly they did a great job of picking a movie I would enjoy. This is by no means a perfect movie but once again I loved the ending and that makes up for the other parts that are down right horrible (including the homophobic friends).

Let me know what you think-- love it? hate it?
