Why I Finally Decided to Do This

For anyone that knows me they know I love movies-- it is like an addiction really. When I am sad, I watch a movie. When I am happy, I watch a movie. When I am scared, I watch a movie. When I am nervous, I watch a movie. Do you see a pattern?

Movies for me are like comfort foods to most people (even though I have my own comfort foods). For me movies teach me about the world and help me to figure out what I want to do with my life. They help me to discover new places because like the cliche says-- movies transport you to far off places without ever having to leave your sofa. Except for me I want to then leave my sofa and travel there.

Movies open up the world and help you to see things you never would have seen before. That is why I am a movie freak.

Everyone always says, "Eric you could be a film critic!" I disagree because I rarely hate a movie-- granted I can find things wrong with a movie but I always look for that one part of the movie that will make me go back to it over and over again. I have so many favorites too.

About two months ago someone told me I should go back to my healthy eating blog and I seriously thought about it, but I feel like a hypocrite because I tell everyone else to eat this certain way when in fact I do not do it all the time. I eat healthier than I ever have but have my weak moments (don't we all). Another person said, "Eric why don't you blog about something you love, like movies. I love to hear you talk about movies and would love to read your recommendations."

But what really started it was, over my vacation I read a book called "The Film Club" by David Gilmour. He is a film critic who let his son quit school after 10th grade as long as he watched three movies a week with him. It opened my eyes to the power of movies even more. So I finally decided to share my knowledge and love of movies with the world.

Weekly or sometimes daily I will share movies I have watched and what I think of them. I will also share my Twenty Favorite Movies of All Time (in a countdown) along with The Best Fifteen Movies of All Time (in a countdown) -- both in my own opinion. Yes there is a different between Favorite Movies and Best Movies as you will learn.

When rating a movie I will use my own scale out of 5 stars (1 being the best and 5 being not my favorite). But remember just because I love a movie does not mean you will. I will give you a brief synopsis of the movie along with what I loved about the movie and what I disliked about it. I will also avoid spoiling it with spoilers because that is just not fair!!

Around Oscar Time I will also give my picks for winners -- who will win and who should win! (along with who was snubbed for a nomination).

Please give me suggestions for movies you want reviewed-- and if I can find it I will watch it!! I love your feedback!!
